(GOGAMA) – The Gogama OPP assisted the local fire department with a partial evacuation of the town site of Gogama earlier today as a precautionary measure stemming from a vapor leak from a rail car situated in proximity to the town of Gogama.
One hundred and five area residents were evacuated and relocated at the Gogama Community Centre for their safety.
The evacuation order has been lifted and all residents will be allowed to return to their homes within the hour.
The OPP kept a strict vigil over the perimeter of the affected area while the evacuation order was in place.
Hwy 661 leading into the town site of Gogama was closed for nearly 7 hours but has since been reopened.
