
A local 43 year old male has been arrested and charged following a serious confrontation with police.
In the early hours of June 28, 2013, police responded to a call concerning a male who was causing a disturbance in the central part of town. Upon arrival, police located the male who was belligerent, vulgar and disturbing neighbors. Police approached the male at which point one officer was struck in the head with a full bottle. A struggle ensued and police eventually were able to subdue the accused. The accused was transported to the Timmins Police Service building where he now faces several charges.
As a result of the assault, a police officer received a laceration to his head and showed signs of a possible concussion. The officer was transported to the Timmins and District Hospital where it was revealed that he had suffered a serious concussion from the assault. The officer was later released from the hospital.
Charged is Dwight Thurlow of Timmins. Thurlow now faces charges of Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Cause Disturbance, Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon and Resisting Arrest. The accused was held pending a bail hearing.
